Giant Anemones for Sea World

For the all new Electric Ocean Nighttime Celebration Sea World decided to use giant inflatable balloons. Along with updating the Cirque water show they wanted to spice up the different areas of the park with bold and interesting new props and color. After spending time with their creative team we came up with a series of 10 – 10′ tall inflatable anemones that would be installed on the roofs of different buildings throughout the park. The size and shape made a wonderful and whimsical impression and after being internally lit was a real hit among the attendees at Sea World.

TBT, Bird of Paradise Mural

In 2002 we were commissioned to paint a mural for the CDC El Cajon. We were asked to depict something for the rebirth of downtown El Cajon. The inspiration came to us as the Bird of Paradise, out of the ashes rebirth! It was a fun project that gave us a chance to show off our fine art side and do some airbrushing “in plein air”.

We make a ton of signs, banners, wraps, but this was an opportunity to do something that brought beauty into our world. It was painted in an alley way that people walked when going from a parking lot to the theater. I always imagined it would be a great surprise, turning a corner and being greeted by a colorful mural.

Do you an area that needs a fresh look? Maybe something that uplift your store or neighborhood? Give us a call we’d love to help you out!

A Blast From The Past!

We recently completed a new truck graphic layout for a long-term customer, Mark, with SolidCold Refrigeration. He first came to us in 2003 to do the graphics for his truck with his logo in full color. The process to create his logo then was to use a combination of airbrushing, hand-cutting, and machine cutting on our plotter to get the gradient effect. It was a time consuming process but the end result looked great.

Original logo airbrushed and hand cut in 2003

Fast forward to today… We now produce all graphics for vehicles and trucks as digital prints on one of our three large format printers. The original design took about 3 – 4 hours to design, airbrush, cut, and prepare for installing whereas the digital printing and lamination took less than an hour.

Digital printing allows us to produce full color graphics in the exact same way all the time and it is much faster and cheaper than hand painting and airbrushing. As a business, we have gone from working with up to 15 airbrush artists to now having four graphic artists who can produce so much more with the current technology. This allows us to pass on the savings in both time and money to our customers so they get a better product, consistently. We are always looking for ways to stay up-to-date with the latest technology to help your business look great.

Giant Donut for Jimmy Fallon!

So last Saturday I spent 8 hours painting a giant donut for the Jimmy Fallon show. After spending all day airbrushing and hand lettering I think the end result turned out great! Thank you Interactive Inflatables for the rush job!

Airbrushing 101, Schooldaze!!!

Many years ago, when dinosaurs still roamed the earth, I was an airbrush artist at a place called Bigger Than Life. I came across these pics and thought I’d share them. Now we’d digi-print most of this. It will produce a more exacting inflatable but in the old days they were works of art. Enjoy! BTW, I’ve been asked and will put together a short video on how to clean an airbrush soon!

A New Mural For The Kona Kai Resort

A New Mural For The Kona Kai Resort

We work with some great people and last week had the opportunity to work with the folks at Non Verbal Communications. Their client, the Kona Kai Resort, needed a mural painted behind a metal ship sculpture to match a logo. We were there from 8:30 pm to 11:00 pm to keep us out of the way of the customers. We used stencils and air brushes to create the desired finish of a rough weathered texture. We think it turned out great!
